Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (d. 795 H.)


He was a Sheikh of Hanbali fiqh and usul, muhaddith, historian, theologian and preacher. One of the great memorisers of hadith and a great Sufi of the Qadiri Order. Among his books are a commentary of  Bukhari and a commentary on Nawawi's 40 hadith. Author of Tabaqat al-Hanabila, a well documented biography of all the Hanbali scholars of his time as well as those before him, one of the classics of Islamic scholarship. 


Buried near sayyidina Mu`awiya in Bab al-Saghir.
